Potential Use of Some Indonesian Plants to Inhibits Angiotensin-converting Enzyme In Vitro

چکیده
BACKGROUND: Some Indonesian plants, such as Vaccinium varingiaefolium Miq., Plectranthus scutellarioides (L.) R.Br., Syzygium myrtifolium Walp., and Eclipta prostrata L., are rich of flavonoid anthocyanin. Flavonoid, flavan-3-ol, quercetin, anthocyanin, tannin compounds can reduce systemic vascular resistance because they cause vasodilation thought to be able influence the function angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibit ACE activity, which plays an important role in process hypertension. AIM: This study aims determine potential some plants activity. METHODS: Testing inhibitory activity is carried out by hippuric acid formed a result reaction between substrate enzyme, then measured spectrophotometrically. The IC50 values each test sample were compared with positive control Captopril. RESULTS: four plant extracts contained secondary metabolites, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, quinones, steroids, triterpenoids, essential oils. Ethanol extract V. P. S. E. L. had value inhibition 131.4 ppm, 206. 7 151.2 196.0 ppm. Captopril 11.1 CONCLUSION: shows that have antihypertensive drug candidates

Potential angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors from Iranian traditional plants described by Avicenna’s Canon of Medicine
Objective: Hypertension is an important cause of cardiovascular disorders. The angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) plays an important role in hypertension; therefore, inhibition of ACE in treatment of chronically elevated blood pressure is an important therapeutic approach. In the current review, we have p...
متن کاملAngiotensin-converting enzyme inhibition by Brazilian plants.
The potential antihypertensive activity of Brazilian plants was evaluated in vitro by its ability to inhibit the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). Forty-four plants belonging to 30 families were investigated. Plants were selected based on their popular use as antihypertensive and/or diuretics. The following plants presented significant ACE inhibition rates: Calophyllum brasiliense, Combretum...
متن کاملSerum Angiotensin Converting Enzyme in Patients with Psoriasis
Background: Controversial data concerning the elevation of serum angiotensin-converting enzyme in psoriasis are reported in the literature. In order to verify whether this abnormality exists in Iranian patients, we performed this study. Method: Serum angiotensin-converting enzyme level was measured in 40 psoriatics. According to clinical forms of psoriasis, patients were further divided into th...
